The photographer came round this evening to show us her photos of Alex. Oh too many lovely photos! We are so indecisive when it comes to choosing between things we like. There are even a couple of photos of me that don't make me run screaming from the room!

And, of course, Alex looks fabulous.

Land of Nod

Alex has learned how to nod this week. She has become very agreeable.

This evening we were running late so I thought that if we read a couple more books at bedtime she might still be up to see Ian before bed. But she was getting a bit fractious after a couple of books so I started singing (poor baby) the bedtime song. Almost as soon as I started singing she started to squirm (like I said - poor baby). I asked her if she wanted to just get straight into the cot expecting no reaction at all but she nodded! So I put her into the cot and waiting for her to wail. But no, she really did want to get into the cot! She just curled up with her lovie and went to sleep.

I am in shock.

Backwards

Alex's new favourite game is crawling backwards. Yesterday she crawled the length of the garden backwards only stopping when she ran out of garden. Today she has been crawling backwards round the front room.

Alex's tongue has now become a matter of great study. Is there a reflective surface in the room? If there is that's where Alex is - sticking out her tongue and watching it.

We got homework from Patacakes! We've been asked to fill in some information at the front of Alex's Birth to Three Matters record. It'll be interesting to see what the people at the nursery write in it.

A new arrival!

Country Fair

We took Alex to the Country Fair on Parkers Piece today. The weather was lovely and there were plenty of animals and things for her to point at.


There was some sort of medieval crafts fair with plenty of quaffing going on which is probably authentic enough.


We spent quite a while watching the Molly Dancing which was very funny.




Alex and I shared a plate of couscous and felafel which was a good idea right up until she crawled across the plate. Knees of humus - yummy.



I discovered a method of getting Alex to stand up from sitting without having to hold on to anything! She wanted to eat my mobile phone and when I took it away from her she was so furious she stood up and shrieked at me. It took her a couple of seconds to realise what happened and sit down again. Very exciting. After that she managed to stand up a couple of times and did some stomping around with Ian.


And then there was the other exciting moment where she crawled off intent on playing with the birds of prey.


Finally there was a bit of a delay for anyone trying to drive down Mill Road. The engine was very noisy and yet Alex managed to nap through it all.

Strawberry Fair

Alex took us to the Strawberry Fair on her birthday.

Birthday Cake

Alex's first birthday cake. She wasn't all that impressed by it but we thought it was lovely.

I like the range of beverages in the photo. Wine, coffee and sippy cup. Guess which drink belongs to which family member!

Alex is One!

Alex is now one years old. It seems amazing that an entire year has passed. She has changed so much in 12 months.

More soon about her birthday weekend but now its time for bed.
