Patacake Day Nursery

We have just started to send Alex to the Patacake Day Nursery. Its only for a couple of hours twice a week but we're (well I certainly am) hoping that it'll give me a bit of a break mid week and allow the Empress to socialise with other children.

Friday was the first day she stayed in the nursery without me. It was only meant to be for an hour and a half to see how she got on but when I arrived to collect her she was having a nap. Apparently she got a bit tired and tearful but still refused to lie down and sleep. They put her in a buggy and pushed her around for a bit and she was out like a light. That sounds like Alex alright.

She had had a good time up until the nap. There is a silvered barrier between the little babies and the bigger ones and she spent a lot of the time rattling it, looking at her own reflection and babbling.

Her key worker seems to be lovely and I've heard nothing but good reports about her so that is reassuring.

On Tuesday we're going to leave her there for the full three hours. I am planning to go wild and use the free time to go for a run and have a bath. I think it will be a short run and a long bath.

Clap hands ...

... is a funny game specially when there is a spoonful of yogurt between them.

Alex's hair is beginning to grow. At the front there are about four actual hairs that are longer than the rest. It is very exciting but I hope there will be more!

Alex's Reading Seat

Alex hasn't quite realised that you are meant to sit on the chair and read not sit underneath it.

Lemon Syrup Loaf Cake

Well, when I say lemon cake I lie. I couldn't find any lemons in the Co-op the other day so I bought limes.

The recipe came from How to Be a Domestic Goddess and was incredibly easy.
This is the second cake I've baked in as many years so I haven't attained DG status yet. Perhaps if I make some buns in the autumn I'll qualify.

Of course having cake in the house doesn't help me in my quest to lose some weight. I would like to say that I want to lose the after baby weight but I'd really like to lose a bit more than that. Can't blame Alex for all of it. We hosted the local NCT coffee afternoon here today so I managed to give a lot of it away to the visitors and I've frozen most of the rest.

Easter at Adam and Kinga's

This is the last of the posts catching up with the photos from around Easter. I'll start adding text to my posts again soon. Probably.

The Empress Alexandra once again extends her hand to be kissed.

George on Easter Sunday

We went to Adam and Kinga's on Easter Sunday. George was in great form and was very good about Alex playing with all his toys.

And I use the term grown ups advisedly.
