Sleep training
Today we put Alex down in her cot for her morning nap. For ages she has been a fabulous napper but we've been putting her in the bouncy chair.
A couple of weeks ago the bouncy chair fell out of favour and she started to only nap in the pram. While the pram was moving of course. Not even I am mug enough to take her out for two walks a day just to get her to sleep. I say that now - lets see how successful the sleep training is.
Anyway, yes, sleep training. So we made up a little nap routine (pull the curtains, put on the grobag) and put her into the cot. A lot of crying ensued. Lots. Ian went in occasionally to check she was ok, lie her down if she was sitting up and attempt to calm her down and eventually she fell asleep. Hurrah.
She napped for twenty minutes which seemed like too short a nap so we let her cry for another while. I sat downstairs on my own and listened to her cry on and on. Horrendous. And then it went quiet. Hurrah.
Time passed. And slowly but surely I started to worry. Could we have the only baby in the world that has cried herself to death in under half an hour? I crept up the stairs and peeked round the door. No baby in the cot! Cried so hard she evaporated? Perhaps she was in Ian's study with him - another empty room. Alien abduction was increasingly the only explanation.
Looked into our bedroom and there they were tucked up in bed. Alex was snoring away on Ian's chest. Too cute for words - the both of them.
