Easter Weekend.
I started running with my new heart rate monitor (HRM). Well, I ran until it beeped to tell me to slow down. Then walked until it beeped to tell me to speed up. There was a lot of walking. The three 5km sessions I did over the weekend came in at around 50 minutes each. Very slow.
My heart rate doesn't go very high. Which is reassuring. But it does get high very quickly. And it does go back down quickly as well. If only I could run quickly. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and if there is no improvement then I'll try using the 'Hard' setting. Or lie about my age.
Lots of good news. Neil Roche is a father again, a little girl called Rebecca. And two of my cousins got engaged (though not to each other I hasten to add). So well done Sam and Gavin.
Despite making the most of Easter as an excuse to stuff myself full of seasonal treats like chocolate, cheese and curry I seem to have lost half a pound. Perhaps 'running' 15km over the weekend really did help. This week though I must keep a close eye on my intake. I am going out tonight to celebrate Nigel getting a new job, there's a Sema night out on Friday and Jim Ilffe's first birthday party on Saturday. I am doomed.
